"Owuo se me hwe anwummere a, na wahu, wusom anadwo a, na woahu." (When death says it's evening, you have seen; when you serve the night, you have seen.)
"Opanin Yaw" | "Papa Yaw"
Nana Yaw Asante was born on the 15th day of March, 1958, at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to the late Opanin Kwame Asante of blessed memory and Maame Akosua Mensah. He was the third of seven children born to this union.
He had his basic education at the Roman Catholic Primary School, Adum, and proceeded to Prempeh College for his secondary education. Nana Yaw later gained admission to the University of Ghana, Legon, where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Nana Yaw dedicated over 35 years of his life to public service at the Ghana Revenue Authority, where he rose through the ranks to become a highly respected Director. He was known for his integrity, dedication, and mentorship of younger colleagues.
A devout Christian, Nana Yaw was an active member and Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Osu Ebenezer Congregation. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he served the church with unwavering commitment until his call to glory.
Nana Yaw married Maame Adwoa Asante (nee Owusu) on 14th February, 1984, and this union was blessed with four children: Kwame, Abena, Yaw Jr., and Akosua. He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren who were the joy of his later years.
